Talk through the retirement you want — where you'll live, how often you'll travel, when you'll stop working — and get back a line-by-line budget, a bucket strategy for your savings, and honest Monte Carlo odds that the money lasts. The AI runs on your own computer, and your finances never leave it.
Aegis works through your household, retirement age, location, housing, health, travel, hobbies, family, giving, work and savings one topic at a time. Ranges are fine — "three or four trips a year" works. Prefer typing to talking? Skip straight to the forms.
Every line is a yearly amount in today's dollars with its own inflation class and go-go, slow-go and no-go multipliers. Hover any line to see how it was worked out and the words from the interview behind it.
Cash, income and growth buckets, plus an optional Social Security bridge and a legacy or long-term-care reserve. Choose calendar, threshold or market-aware refill rules.
10,000 simulated lifetimes by default (1,000 to 100,000), with success rate, a percentile fan chart, sustainable spending, sweeps, an age × spending heatmap and a tornado chart of what matters most.
Read 401(k), 403(b), IRA, TSP, brokerage, HSA, pension and Social Security statements on your own computer. Every amount is checked against the statement's text before you apply it.
Duplicate a plan and change one thing — retire two years later, move abroad — then compare up to four scenarios at once. Snapshots and full history let you go back to any revision.
Most planners open with a blank form asking for your annual spending. Few people know that number. Aegis asks about your life instead, and works the number out with you — each topic illustrated, each answer turned into profile fields you can see and correct.
Each field remembers whether you stated it, it was inferred, or it is a default — along with the words it came from. Inferred values are read back once for you to confirm.
Reopen any topic ("we decided to move to Portugal") and only the affected budget lines update. Lines you edited yourself are kept.
A side panel answers questions about your plan and proposes changes. Nothing changes until you accept a proposal.
A success rate is only as good as what went into it. Aegis shows the assumptions next to the results, and runs the same rules you set inside every simulated lifetime.
Lognormal or normal with your own means, volatilities and correlations; a historical bootstrap of consecutive US years since 1928 that keeps real crashes and inflation spells; or fixed returns as a sanity check.
Ordinary brackets and the standard deduction (including the age-65 and 2025–2028 senior deductions), 0/15/20% capital gains, taxable Social Security, RMDs, Roth conversions, Medicare IRMAA and a flat state rate.
Every scenario runs on the same random paths for the same seed, so differences come from the plan, not from noise. Change any input and stale results are marked out of date and re-run.
A planning aid, not advice. Aegis Retirement Planner is an educational tool. It does not give financial, tax or legal advice. The bundled tax tables, historical returns and reference costs each carry their source and as-of date — check important numbers yourself, and talk to a qualified professional before acting on a plan. ACA premium credits, AMT, estate tax and state tax brackets are not modelled.
The language model runs locally through Ollama, and your plans live in a SQLite file on your computer. A remote AI host is refused unless you explicitly allow it.
No sign-up, no cloud sync, no analytics. Statements are read locally and not kept — only balances, benefit estimates and the last four digits of each account are saved.
Every feature, no charge and no license key. Export any plan to an .aegisplan
file or a PDF report whenever you like.
Aegis Retirement Planner is in Beta and free to use. On Linux you can install it in one command:
Prefer a traditional package? A Debian/Ubuntu .deb is on the download page.
The interview and assistant need Ollama and a local model. The default model runs on an 8 GB laptop without a GPU:
No Ollama? The forms, budget, buckets and simulations all work without it.
Go to DownloadNote on licensing: Aegis Retirement Planner is free to download and use during the Beta, with every feature available. After the Beta, some features may require a one-time license purchase — pay once, never a subscription. The software is proprietary and licensed, not sold.
