Get the Beta of Aegis BrewMaster. Free to download and use while it is in Beta — every feature, no charge and no license key.
Aegis BrewMaster for Linux is available as a Snap package across all major distributions, or as a standalone Debian/Ubuntu (.deb) package.
Option 1: Snap Package
Install Aegis BrewMaster directly from the Snap Store:
Or run the following command in your terminal:
To import and export recipes and PDFs on USB drives, also run this once:
The Snap updates itself automatically as new versions are published.
Option 2: Debian / Ubuntu (.deb)
1. Download the .deb package using the button above, then open your terminal.
2. Navigate to your Downloads folder:
3. Install the package using apt (recommended):
Note: using sudo apt install will automatically pull in any required system
dependencies. The package bundles its own Python environment.
The recipe brainstorm and the Ask Aegis assistant use a language model running on your own computer through Ollama. Install Ollama (see our Ollama setup guide), then pull the default model:
The default model runs on an 8 GB laptop without a GPU, taking several seconds per reply. On a
slower machine choose qwen2.5:3b in Configure. The app checks Ollama on first start
and explains anything that is missing.
Ollama is optional: everything except the brainstorm and the assistant works without it.
Launch Aegis BrewMaster from your applications menu and start a brainstorm, or open the Recipe page and design one by hand. See the documentation for the recipe editor, calculators, brew day and printing.
Your recipes are stored in ~/.aegisbrewmaster/ (with the Snap:
~/snap/aegisbrewmaster/current/.aegisbrewmaster/) and are kept when the package is
removed or updated.
